I didn't see the movie but I would expect that they meant she didn't have to play against men to win her title as world champion. That qualification would clarify the issue for the chess ignorant public. She capitalized nicely on their blunder, like any greedy capitalist would.

First of all I didn’t see any disinformation and/or lies from Nate in any of his posts. Secondly, comparing the Woman’s Chess Championship to the special olympics is very shameful and disgraceful of you. If anything we should promote chess to everyone and anyone, regardless of your opinion of the Queen’s Gambit. I think this was a fantastic article, and the game given as an example was amazing, everything falling apart for the black position from Nh5 was absolutely beautiful.
