In chess, an unexpected move inserted into a seemingly forced sequence.
A newsletter focused on unexpected insights from chess, data, and learning research.
About Me
As a kid I was one of the top chess players for my age in the United States. I used the strategies and study techniques I learned from chess to make a living as a poker pro for seven years. In 2019 I quit poker to focus on machine learning and data science.
I’ve always been interested in chess as a laboratory for examining how our minds work. I combine my experiences from chess, poker, and data science to find new ways of thinking about chess and learning.
